State provides update on audit in Clay County
JEFFERSON CITY – After the new Clay County commissioners dropped lawsuits former Commissioners Gene Owen and Luann Ridgeway had filed to fight a state audit, Auditor Nicole Galloway’s office provided an audit update.
Owen and Ridgeway sought to block the portion of the audit covering commission records. While battling the blockade, Galloway’s staff audited other offices in the county. Staff finished several of those audits while reporting no major issues in terms of numbers adding up and the offices meeting legal guidelines.
“The next report our office expects to release would be a report covering the Clay County Sheriff’s Office,” Galloway press secretary Steph Deidrick informed this newspaper last week. “I would estimate that report would be released by the end of the summer.”
