The race for Clay County prosecuting attorney will not feature a challenger this August, but voters will still cast ballots for the office.

Zachary Thompson is seeking re-election as Clay County Prosecutor in the Aug. 4 election.

Thompson, 44, of Kansas City, earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. He served as an assistant Clay County prosecutor from 2011 to 2022 and has served as Clay County prosecutor since 2022.

“I am seeking reelection to protect our community by enforcing the law fairly, holding offenders accountable, and standing up for victims,” stated Thompson.

He identified two public safety issues he believes require continued attention from the prosecutor’s office.
