Volunteers make big impact, Earth Day cleanup
Armed with gloves, long sleeves and a shared passion for their community, a dedicated group of volunteers recently came together to give Excelsior Springs a fresh look during this year’s Earth Day Cleanup. This annual event continues to expand in both participation and impact within the community.Last weekend, 67 volunteers gathered to remove trash, tires and debris from parks, trails, streams and public spaces across the city, making a clear and lasting impact on the environment and the community.Organized by the Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation and Community Center (ESPRCC), this marked the ninth year for the event, which has evolved into a significant community initiative. This year, the volunteers collected 95 large trash bags, 13 mesh stream bags, 12 tires and hauled away 12 truckloads of bulky waste. The value of their volunteer service was estimated at $6,731, underscoring not only the environmental benefit but the economic support provided to the city....
