An Excelsior Springs woman accused of causing the death of Mitchell Troy Dickey pleaded not guilty during her first court appearance.

Malinda Francis Dickey, 67, is charged with two felonies of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. She recently appeared before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Karen L. Krauser, where she was read the complaint, advised of her right to counsel and right to remain silent and entered a plea of not guilty.

Malinda is being held on a $1 million bond and remains in custody at the Clay County Detention Center, as of press time. She is scheduled for a bond hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 18.

On Aug. 4, the Excelsior Springs Police Department received a 911 call from Justin Dickey, who reported his brother, Austin Dickey, had arrived at their parents’ home and found their father dead on the kitchen floor, according to the probable cause statement written by Detective Jeffrey Kaiser.
