Pit bull ban discussion continues

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city continues to consider eliminating decadesold legislation banning pit bulls. A public forum, or “listening post,” occurred at 6 p.m.

Students share poetry

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Students from Excelsior Springs Middle School will share poems from 6 to 8 p.m. April 8 at the Bohemian Sage Gallery, and a published poet from Kansas City will attend, based on information from teacher Gina Calvin.

City OKs FD concrete replacement

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – On March 7, the City Council approved Fire Chief Joe Maddick’s request for $95,620 to replace the fire station’s concrete apron. The City Council’s approval while meeting at the Hall of Waters followed the Capital Improvements Authority’s approval Feb.

City’s search for new planner begins

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city seeks a new planner, Economic Development Director Melinda Mehaffy told city leaders during a March 18 work session at the Hall of Waters. The last planner left March 9 to work in the private sector, Mehaffy said.
