Excelsior Springs advances multi-phase street improvements

More than $1 million in street improvements will move forward across Excelsior Springs this year through a multi-phase streetscape program. The projects were approved by the Excelsior Springs City Council during a recent meeting and represent a coordinated three-phase approach to street maintenance and reconstruction.

Downtown growth continues with rising visits, sales

Downtown Excelsior Springs continued to show measurable growth in 2025, with more than 387,000 visits and $8.32 million in retail sales reported across the district. During a recent city council meeting, Downtown Excelsior Partnership (DEP) Executive Director Lyndsey Baxter presented the organization’s 2025 annual report, outlining key data on visitation, economic impact, business growthand future priorities for the downtown district.

Council advances redevelopment of long-vacant building

Plans to renovate a longvacant building at 205 North Marietta Street are moving forward through a tax abatement supporting a $158,250 redevelopment project. The Excelsior Springs City Council approved the project — which includes a redevelopment agreement and Chapter 353 tax abatement for the property — during a recent meeting.

St. John, Morgan win Excelsior council seats

Clay County experienced low voter participation in the April 7 General Municipal Election, with unofficial results showing only 8.64% of registered voters casting ballots across all precincts. Of the 153,962 registered voters in Clay County, only 13,302 chose to vote in the election.
