ESFA concludes regular season
The regular season is over for the Excelsior Springs Football Association (ESFA). And the postseason is about to begin.
ESFA teams concluded regular-season play on Oct. 14 with a slate of games at Tiger Stadium. The second-grade team fell to Oak Grove 26-6 to finish the season 0-5.
ESFA’s third-graders downed Oak Grove 13-0, putting them at 4-2 entering the West Central Youth Football League playoffs. Excelsior Springs’ fourth-graders fell to Oak Grove 6-0, putting them at 3-3.
The fifth-graders lost to Oak Grove 1412, completing a 1-5 regular season. The sixth-graders dominated Richmond 25-6 to improve to 5-1.
Postseason play will begin Saturday. The sixth-graders will face Pleasant Hill at 12:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill. Excelsior Springs’ fourth- and fifth-grade teams will each play Oak Grove, with the fifth-graders playing at 12:30 and the fourth-graders playing at 2:15. The third-graders will play Clinton at 10:45 a.m. in Oak Grove.
