Forrestine Hargrove, 82, passed away peacefully Nov. 20, 2024, in Harlingen, Texas.

She was born Sept. 17, 1942, in Excelsior Springs to Darrell and Ollie Adams.

She grew up in Excelsior Springs, was a lifelong member of the Excelsior Springs Baptist Church and was a graduate of Excelsior Springs High School.

While living in Seattle in the 1980s, she became an accomplished and award-winning artist. Her enthusiasm for genealogy led her to join the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Sam Hargrove; three children, Perry A. Hargrove of Wisconsin, Debrah A. Hargrove and Bethany L. Jones of New Mexico, and their families; sister, Becky Shouse; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

Services will be held Dec. 5, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be 9:30-10 a.m., with the funeral services to follow. The burial will be at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Rushville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Excelsior Springs Baptist Church.
