Gail D. Hawkins (Shelor)
Gail D. Hawkins (Shelor) – age 59 of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away Wednesday morning, September 1, 2021 at Liberty Hospital.
Gail was born on August 26, 1962 to Karl and Mary Shelor in Kansas City, MO. She was a graduate of Excelsior Springs High School. First married to Donald A. Tipton and had 2 children together and later divorced. She then married Hugh L. Hawkins and 2 more children were added to the family. They later divorced. Gail worked as a customer service representative at Knit Rite for over 20 years and then at Cascade Orthopedic Supply LLP for over 10 years. Gail enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as her fellow members of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. She dedicated her time to being the treasurer at the Eagles and loved participating in their activities. The ladies auxiliary FOE was number 3 for all fundraising for the FOE Alzheimer’s Charity. Gail loved scrapbooking with her sisters and entertaining her grandchildren. Movie nights were some of her favorite memories. Gail was also known for her love of singing, card games, and reading. She was always ready to have a good time and will be dearly missed.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, Karl Shelor; sisters, Shelly Shelor and Carla Young. Survivors include her mother, Mary Shelor; sisters, Terry (Frank) Tate and Jennifer (Mike) Snelling; brothers, John (Amy) Shelor and Jeff (Chrissy) Shelor; children, Donald Tipton, Karl Tipton, Elizabeth (Mike) Smith and William (Amanda) Hawkins; grandchildren, Krislyn Tipton, Madilyn Tipton, Sydney Tipton, Kelsey Chinn, Weston Smith and Wyatt Smith; and several nieces, nephew, cousins, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to “Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Alzheimer’s Charity”. Funeral services will be held on September 8th, 2021 at Bross and Spidel Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. The family will receive friends at 9:30am prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Bross and Spidel Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
