Sylvia Christeen (Poe) Boston
Sylvia Christeen (Poe) Boston, 86, of Excelsior Springs, MO., passed away May 2nd, 2022 at the Excelsior Springs Hospital. Sylvia was born July 23rd, 1935 to Franklin and Frances Poe in Grant City, MO.
Her greatest joys were her family and her friends. She lived that devotion every day. She cherished each relationship and brightened our lives with her sense of adventure, fast wit, and beautiful spirit. Her life was of compassion, and love. She loved us dearly as we loved her. How blessed we are to call her Mother, Grandma and Friend.
Briefly nicknamed ‘Sylvester’ by her basketball teammates in high school, she was always fearless while remaining impeccably classy at 5’ 0”! She took flying lessons at the age of 77, zip-lined at 80, and would have summited the Giza pyramids had her life-long dream been fulfilled.
Amongst many passions, she particularly enjoyed pampering her gorgeous flower gardens while creatively landscaping a large portion of the 14 acres surrounding her beautiful home. She loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed watching the wide array of birds that continually visit feeders overlooking her pond.
Sylvia was an Avon representative for 55 years and was recognized for being the longest active member before recently retiring. She was also an active member of the Excelsior Springs Garden Club, Gardeners of America and BPW.
She is survived by her son, Timothy (Karen) Boston of Excelsior Springs, MO, son, Jimmie Boston of Shawnee, KS and daughter, Tonya Boston of Independence, MO; five grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Cody, Josh and Brianna and many dearly loved friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, JC Poe.
A celebration of life will be held at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO. on May 12, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
