Gaige Carr is ready for Friday night.Carr and his Excelsior Springs teammates will complete the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division and regular-season portion of their varsity 11-man football schedule Friday on the road against archrival Kearney. Excelsior Springs seeks to break a string of losses to the Bulldogs, including last season’s 56-0 rout at Tiger Stadium.Offensively, the Tigers will face a defense that’s “pretty good,” acknowledged Carr, a senior running back/defensive back.“They have pretty big guys on their defense,” Carr said Monday.Winning the line of scrimmage will be key for Excelsior Springs on offense, Carr suggested.“If our O line can hold them up a little bit, we can definitely get some yards,” he said.Defensively, Excelsior Springs will face an offense known for its physicality and predictability, Carr and Tigers coach Jake Danneman agreed.“They...
