NEARLY EQUALLEDExcelsior Springs nearly matched its longest winning streak this season in varsity baseball.A 9-6 loss Monday to Warrensburg at Excelsior Springs in a tussle of teams both nicknamed the Tigers ended the local baseballers’streak at six games. The program’s longest streak this season has been seven games.The latest winning streak included three victories en route to the Northland Tournament championship. After defeating William Chrisman April 14 in its opener, Excelsior Springs downed Oak Park 5-0 April 16 at the Creekside Baseball Complex. Landon Marcum helped lead the squad to the shutout victory by tossing a complete-game four-hitter in 91 pitches.Offensively, Excelsior Springs clanged out 13 hits, with six batters collecting two hits each.
