Collins, Carr end postseason grappling droughts
For the fourth straight season, Cooper Collins experienced the thrill of being a state qualifier in boys wrestling.This year, though, the Excelsior Springs senior also experienced the thrill of being a district champion.Collins was slated to compete this week in the 144-pound division at the Class 2 state tournament. At press time, the two-day tournament was concluding Thursday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. He advanced to state after winning his division at Class 2 District 4 competition, held Feb. 20-21 at Excelsior Springs.“The other three times I didn’t win – win districts,” he said minutes after his district title match. “I couldn’t get it done.
