ES girls pack top 10 at St. Joe meet
Excelsior Springs put three varsity girls runners in the top 10 and four in the top 12 at the Lafayette Irish Invitational.
Junior Braylissa Whitworth paced the Tigers at the Sept. 27 meet at St. Joseph by running the 3.1-mile race in 26 minutes, 6.6 seconds to finish eighth. Katie Houck, a first-year high schooler, took ninth in 26:59.8. Kirsten Stout, also a first-year high schooler, was 10th in 27:01.4. Junior Chloe Albertson placed 12th in 28:51.9.
In the boys race, senior Gavin Wilmes led Excelsior Springs, taking 14th place in 20:55.5. First-year high schooler Liam Hedding took 22nd in 22:53.9, with sophomore Silas O’Dell placing 23rd in 22:54. First-year high schooler William Tade finished 29th in 24:39.9. Senior Damien McDade was 30th, finishing in 25:05.3.
