ES girls third, boys fifth at Blue Division XC meet
Excelsior Springs packed the top 20 in the varsity girls portion of the Greater Kansas Suburban Conference-Blue Division cross country championships Oct. 13 at the North Kansas City Activities Complex at Staley High School.
Led by Jules Morton, the Tigers claimed the 15th, 16th, 19th and 20th spots and placed third in the team standings with 91 points – eight points ahead of fourth-place Grandview.
Morton, a senior, clinched 15th by running the 3.1-mile race in 24 minutes, 9.2 seconds. Junior Braylissa Whitworth was 16th in 24:30.5. First-year high schoolers Kate Houck and Kirsten Stout finished 19th in 25:40.3 and 20th in 25:51.6, respectively.
In other girls results, sophomore Ava Morton took 24th in 26:54.7, sophomore Emily Fostitch placed 25th in 28:43.7 and junior Lexus Barney was 28th in 31:16.6.
