From a competition standpoint, Excelsior Springs had a light week last week in varsity boys soccer. Excelsior Springs played one game – a 7-0 win over Raytown South Oct. 16. The Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division home rout gave the Tigers their fifth straight win. Mason Wartner led the scoring with a hat trick. The senior started the scoring in the 12th minute by finishing a pass from junior Kolin Kincaid. Austin Collins made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute by finishing a pass from fellow junior Jake Zapata. Wartner extended the lead to 3-0 less than a minute later on an assist from junior Easton Ryan. Kincaid and Wartner teamed up again in the 42nd minute, with Wartner assisting Kincaid this time. Wartner finished his hat trick in the 54th minute by scoring off a pass from Collins. Zapata also scored in the 54th minute, finishing a pass from Wartner.
