ESHS volleyballers end winless streak, down OG

OAK GROVE – Excelsior Springs is back in the winning column in varsity volleyball. With a 3-1 win Tuesday night at Oak Grove, the ladies snapped a six-match winless streak. Their last victory had been Sept. 22 at Van Horn in Independence, where they swept the Falcons in a best-of-five match. After that victory, Excelsior Springs fell Sept. 27 on the road to Benton of St. Joseph 3-0, then again on Sept. 28 at home to Warrensburg. On Oct. 2, the ladies went 0-2-1 in the Grandview Tournament, falling 2-0 to both Benton and Raymore-Pecular and splitting two sets with Fort Osage. The ladies started this week with a 3-0 loss Monday at St. Pius X of Kansas City. To snap the streak Tuesday, they won their first set 25-22, then overcame a 25-21 loss by claiming the last two sets, 27-25 and 25-16. ...
