LENEXA, Kansas – The Excelsior Springs Knuckleheadz did not let themselves get outsmarted when they played Oct. 17 and 18 in tournament competition at the 3& 2 East Complex in Johnson County. The Knuckleheadz, a competitive baseball team for ages 13 and under, smartly went 4-0 in the double-elimination tournament. Stephen Crowley, who is part of the coaching staff, stated they faced competition from Kansas City; De Soto, Kansas; and Spring Hill, Kansas, en route to capturing the title. “All four wins in this tournament were complete ‘TEAM’ wins,” Crowley wrote. “Every single boy contributed. It was some of the best baseball they’ve ever played!” There are 12 youngsters on the Knuckleheadz roster, including nine players from Excelsior Springs, Crowley stated. The others are Kansas City-North residents.
