Baseballers go 2-4 in action-packed week
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers went 2-4 as they crammed six varsity baseball games into last week’s calendar.
Excelsior Springs opened with an April 4 trip to Smithville, where the Tigers fell 7-3.
On April 5, Excelsior Springs took to the road again to face Oak Grove in Missouri River Valley Conference West Division play. The Tigers and Panthers played 4½ innings before rain postponed play to the next day, with the Panthers visiting Excelsior Springs to finish the ballgame. The Tigers came home with the lead and held onto it, winning 4-1.
Junior Mason Danner threw three scoreless innings in relief to get the save.
Over the weekend, the team played in the Camdenton Wood Bat Tournament. Struggling to produce runs, the Tigers went 1-3.
Excelsior Springs opened with a 2-0 loss to East Carter April 8, then fell to Camdenton 2-1 that night. Park Hill South handed the Tigers an 11-3 loss April 9. The Tigers finished with a 3-1 ...
