EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – On Oct. 5, more than 150 varsity runners took on portions of the back nine of the Excelsior Springs Golf Course as the Tigers hosted their annual invitational cross country meet. “Our course is not the type of course you look for a PR (personal record) time on,” Excelsior Springs coach Brian Smarker said. “If you compare times like Tyler Rumore’s to a flat course, you can tell they did a really good job on the tough course we have.” Rumore, a senior, negotiated the 3.1- mile course well enough to finish the boys race in 18 minutes, 19.7 seconds, good for third place. In other Excelsior Springs boys news, junior Gavin Wilmes placed 27th in 20:13.5, Silas O’Dell finished 70th in 23:11.9 and junior Damien McDade came in 87th in 25:59.9.
