Tigers start 1-3 in varsity girls hoops
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Putting together four good quarters was an issue for the Tigers the first four games of the varsity girls basketball season.
The Tigers dropped three of their first four, falling to Lafayette County of Higginsville, Richmond and Oak Grove, and defeating Lexington. They opened Nov. 22 at home with a 44-31 loss to Lafayette County, scoring only two points in the first quarter and seven in the second. The Huskers scored seven first-quarter points and 15 second-quarter points to lead 22-9 at halftime.
Excelsior Springs’ cold shooting from the field continued during the second half, with the Huskers outscoring the Tigers 16-7 the third quarter to lead 38- 16 entering the final quarter. The Tigers finally outscored the Huskers the fourth quarter, 15-6.
