Schmidt leads Tigers on the links

Jacob Schmidt was the top Tiger for the Excelsior Springs varsity boys golf team at two tournaments last week. The junior was the club’s top finisher at a tournament hosted by Oak Park on April 25 at Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville, then at the Richmond Invitational on April 28 at Shirkey Golf Club.

Civil Air Patrol seeks recruits

The Excelsior Springs Civil Air Patrol (CAP), founded in 2016, recently held an open house for those interested in recruitment. “CAPs mission is supporting America’s communities with emergency response, diverse aviation, ground services, youth development and promotion of air, space and cyber power through aerospace education,” said Deputy Commander of Cadets Shelia Caven.

Gillispie released on recognizance

Gary W Gillispie II, who was being held on felony drug trafficking charges, has been released on his own recognizance (ROR) following a recent bond reduction hearing. Circuit Seven Judge Louis Angles approved the request made by public defender Kevin Garrison on Gillispie’s behalf.

Tigers fall in 2OT, then rout Ruskin

For the second time in three games, the Tigers found themselves in a thriller in varsity girls soccer. On April 25, Excelsior Springs and visiting Oak Park went to overtime, with the Oakies winning 3-2 in double overtime and snapping Excelsior Springs’ three-game winning streak.

Boys netters extend dual streak to three, then fall

Excelsior Springs’ longest winning streak this season in varsity boys tennis duals ended last week. Following an April 20 road win over Winnetonka, the Tigers picked up victories against Odessa April 24 and Fort Osage April 26, both at Excelsior Springs.
