A house fire in downtown Excelsior Springs was deemed a complete loss for a local family. The Excelsior Springs Fire Department received the call at about 4 a.m.
Effective immediately, the Excelsior Springs Standard and Richmond Daily News is under new leadership with Sharon Donat stepping up as General Manager. After 32 years at the two newspapers and 20 years as publisher, Brian Rice is retiring from the newspaper business.

Williams said the dredge is being funded separately though through Clay County ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds.

Proceeds from the Downtown Excelsior Partnership’s (DEP) annual benefit dinner, hosted on Sept. 15, will be used to construct a new outdoor deck seating area on Broadway in downtown Excelsior Springs.
