ES grad aims to make hometown proud

Excelsior Springs native Kenzlee Mc-Daniels is preparing to take her volleyball journey to the collegiate level and along the way, she hopes to make her hometown proud. McDaniels, 18, will attend Missouri Valley College this fall on a volleyball scholarship, continuing a passion she’s pursued since she was nine years old.

Volunteers make big impact, Earth Day cleanup

Armed with gloves, long sleeves and a shared passion for their community, a dedicated group of volunteers recently came together to give Excelsior Springs a fresh look during this year’s Earth Day Cleanup. This annual event continues to expand in both participation and impact within the community.

Biermann paces golfers in back-to-back contests

Landon Biermann led the way last week for Excelsior Springs in varsity boys golf. The senior was the Tigers’ top finisher at two competitions – an April 14 tournament in Smithville, hosted by Oak Park; and an April 17 home dual with Winnetonka.

Collins places second

Austin Collins has a near-perfect record in varsity boys singles tennis matches this season. The Excelsior Springs senior had dropped only one match entering four team duals slated for this week.

Girls soccer squad finishes competition as runner-up

Only a nail-biting loss prevented Excelsior Springs from winning its own varsity girls soccer tournament. After opening the competition by trouncing Cameron 8-0 April 12 and then blanking Odessa 4-0 April 14, the Tigers lost the title game April 16 to Oak Park 5-4 on shootout kicks.
