Visitors recently had an opportunity to learn more about that history during a Buffalo Soldiers presentation at Watkins Mill State Historic Site.

School meal prices increase amid funding challenges

Paid breakfast and lunch prices will increase by 25 cents for Excelsior Springs students next school year as district officials work to offset rising food service costs and reduced federal revenue. The Excelsior Springs Board of Education approved the increase during a recent meeting, raising student breakfast prices to $2.20 and lunch prices to $3.05 at the high school, $2.95 at the middle school and $2.85 at elementary schools.
