Waterfest 2022 is just three weeks away, and one Excelsior native is especially excited. Kisha (Henry) Banister will be recognized as Waterfest’s grand marshal during the parade at 9:30 a.m. June 25. The former news anchor/reporter grew up in Excelsior, attending Elkhorn Elementary, playing for the Tigers in girls basketball, cheering for the Tiger football team and graduating in 2006 from Excelsior Springs High School. Banister received her bachelor of arts degree in communications and journalism from the University of Central Missouri before beginning her news career in May 2010. She anchored and reported on a variety of news and sports events in Iowa and Oklahoma before working her way back to anchor and report for KMBC 9 News in the community and city she loves most.
