CCSO breaks ground on first project in 25 years
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office broke ground on its first major construction project in 25 years, the Clay County Law Enforcement Resource Center, after a weather delay pushed the ceremony from Feb. 14 to March 7.The facility, expected to be completed by December 2025 or January 2026, will include an indoor shooting range, a classroom for up to 60 people and training spaces for defensive tactics and decision- making. It will also incorporate virtual and augmented reality training to enhance law enforcement preparedness.“This project is all about professional development,” said CCSO Public Relations Manager Sarah Boyd. “Right now, a lot of our training is online, or we have to travel to some other agency to get specialty training. Our current classroom has seating for 25. The new classroom will have space for 60 and more parking.
