EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city races the calendar while looking to make facilities more energy efficient. On Nov. 2, the City Council approved a resolution at the Hall of Waters to secure an agreement with Navitas LLC to provide “energy savings performance” services. Headquartered in Lisle, Illinois, Navitas is a self-described “energy service provider and an energy efficiency company.” The council also backed a contract to use Navitas’ services, including initial analytical work, “from which a list of potential projects would be provided for us to consider,” City Manager Molly McGovern stated in a memo to city leaders. The city has “really not had adequate time to evaluate what those projects are … whether or not they make costeffective sense for us to take on,” McGovern said. Passing the resolution “would allow us, then, to finish (gathering) some of the information that we need to decide whether to move forward or not,” she said.
