Community improvements continue amid crisis

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The COVID-19 pandemic has changed daily life for everyone, but work continues on a variety of community projects across the city. With public and private facilities closed and public distancing mandated, community leaders are using the period as an opportunity to move forward on projects that would otherwise disrupt the public. CITY PROJECTS City Manager Molly McGovern reported the following project updates are taking place: • St. Louis and Shirewood streets will have sewer service extended to their residences so the neighborhood can abandon failing, private septic systems; • All blocks have been received for building the Superior Pagoda Wall project; • Pavement overlay is planned along Jesse James Road, from Highway 69 to Highway 10; • Monitoring erosion and repairing settled trenches as weather permits is planned at the golf course subdivision; • Tracy Avenue storm drain repair work is 40 to 50% complete; • A utility services crew is doing a chemical…
