Cook demonstrates commitment to Excelsior Springs community
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Denise Rainey is committed to feeding her neighbors.
From noon to 2 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month, Rainey uses the kitchen and great hall at Good Samaritan Center, or GSC, to serve lunch. She and her assistant chef, Diana Bernard, provide meals, kindness and socialization, and all are welcome at her table.
“These two ladies believe in the power of giving back. Denise and her family have been a friend to the center for over 20 years,” based on center information. “She is not shy to tell others that there have been times she has had to use the services at GSC. Those services were vital as her husband George aged and then became ill. They were also raising grandchildren that took up much of the resources they had.”
Bernard feels that, if a friend wants help with something, that is what friends and neighbors do, center information states.
