Museum chosen for assessment program
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Museum and Archives is one of 75 institutions selected nationally to participate in this year’s Collections Assessment for Preservation program.
The program helps to provide support for a general conservation assessment of the museum’s collections and buildings. Museum volunteers and board members will work with a team of preservation professionals to identify preventive conservation priorities. The final assessment report will help the museum prioritize collection care.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our local museum,” Kathy Duncan, head of operations, said. “For more than 50 years, the volunteers at our museum have collected and preserved items of historical significance to our community. We now have more than 33,000 items housed in the two historic buildings that make up our museum.
