NOLTE CALLS FOR HALT ON ANNEX WORK
LIBERTY – With a controversial $20 million annex replacement project in progress, and with two out of three commissioners out after the Nov. 3 elections, Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte wants to put the annex project on hold.
“We seem to be moving forward on the annex building,” he said, “and obviously it’s something I’ve been concerned about for some time.”
Nolte said he tried to ask Commissioners Luann Ridgeway and Gene Owen to consider waiting, but his request did not come up for commission debate.
“I wanted to discuss contracts, timelines. And at that point I was going to make the observation that we should wait until we have a new commission. I think almost anything of any importance that it is possible to postpone should be postponed so that the new commission is able to have their say,” he said.
Nolte said he again will seek to discuss the issue in a future open session.
