STILL IN TOUCH: Schools feed students mentally, physically through programs

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Children in Clay and Ray counties continue being fed physically and mentally by the Excelsior Springs School District, though the threat of the coronavirus has closed every school in the district and across the state, Superintendent Dan Hoehn said. “We’re in an unprecedented time,” Hoehn said. Staff continues to work to provide online education to district students, he said. “Our staff and students have done a really good job with our remote learning,” Hoehn said. The effort is about “academic maintenance,” not matching the levels of teaching and learning better-delivered in a classroom setting, he said. “We look forward to seeing our students back in the school buildings. As always, when something new is rolled out, there will be needed adjustments,” Hoehn stated in a release to district patrons. “Everyone has approached this with a ‘can-do’ attitude and our district will continue to look for needed improvements while we strive to assist the students.” The…
