EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Police Department will add four new vehicles later this year and Public Works will get a new camera. On Feb. 1, the City Council approved Police Chief Clint Reno’s request to buy two Dodge Durango utility vehicles and two Dodge Chargers from Landmark Dodge in Independence. As Reno stated in a Jan. 21 memo to city leaders, the Durangos are $31,814 each and the Chargers are $27,858 apiece, with all four vehicles possessing V-6 engines and all-wheel drive. The vehicles will be bought through the “cooperative purchasing program” offered by the Mid-America Council of Public Procurement.” Clay County government serves as “the originating government agency for the vehicle pricing,” Reno stated. Getting the vehicles will take several months, Reno told city leaders during the council’s Zoom meeting.
