ES golfers 3rd at Higginsville, 2nd at Harrisonville triangular

Excelsior Springs was only a handful of strokes shy of winning the Lafayette County Tournament last week. The Tigers finished third in the April 19 competition at the Higginsville Country Club, shooting a 247 – two strokes behind runner-up Oak Grove and four strokes behind team champion Knob Noster.

Volunteers offer cleaning where it counts

Spohn elected mayor

In a 4-1 vote, the Excelsior Springs City Council recently elected Mark Spohn as mayor of the town, while Stephen Spear was re-elected as mayor pro tem. Spohn takes the gavel from Sharon Powell, who served in that position since 2020.

Fornelli, Banks plan June wedding

Board discusses improvements, recognizes students

New building improvement plans were discussed during the monthly meeting of the Excelsior Springs School Board. The group agreed to remodel the high school’s weight room, as well as purchase weights and equipment, with funds not to exceed $400,000.

Safe room rules, procedures shared

Cornerstone Elementary School recently conducted an open house to discuss safe room policies for public and school usage. Saferooms are created to save lives and provide free space for safety and saving lives for instances of minimum duration.
