Anita Bell Hill, 82, of Excelsior Springs passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her family.

Anita was born on March 3, 1939, to Edgar and Anna Mae McGinnis.

She was the second of six kids: Donnie, Glenn, Delbert, Vernie and Sharon. Anita graduated from Liberty High School and later wed Gary Hill on May 15, 1959. Gary and Anita raised four children together: Debra, Patricia, Nancy and Frank. She worked at several places, including The Sewing Factory and Whitaker Cable, and drove a school bus for special needs children for many years while caring for her own children. Later in life, Anita and Gary purchased her dream farm, where she enjoyed raising cattle, pigs and, especially, Arabian horses. Anita also loved gardening, planting flowers, attending auctions and being with her granddaughters.

Anita was preceded in death by her mother, father and all five siblings.

She is survived by her children, Patti Myers, Debbie Myers, Nancy Palmer (Paul) and Frank Hill; grandchildren, Heather Cowan (Jeremy) and Amanda Emry (Brandon); great grandchildren, Avery, Westin, Lawson, Jaxon, Emerson, Charleigh and Jameson; and her beloved dog, Toby.

At Anita’s request, no services or memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anita’s name to The Special Olympics at specialolympics.org.
