Dorothy Louise Backues, 92, of Excelsior Springs, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born on Sept. 4, 1927, in Richmond, the daughter of Frank and Irene (Davidson) Littleton. She was united in marriage to Melvin C. Backues of Richmond on Sept. 28, 1975. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Janice Elaine Shore of Branson and Kathryn Ann Keel, both of Excelsior Springs; brother, Larry Littleton; daughter-in-law, Tamey Kay Clancy of Florida; three sisters, Marjorie Lana, Sheila Howard and Marvis Atkins; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Micheal Clancy; and brother, Frank Littleton.

Heaven welcomed a lovely grandmother and let her rest in peace. She was a fierce and loving lady that loved to smile and laugh. When you were with her, you always felt special and loved. She led a full and amazingly beautiful life. She loved life, friends and most of all, she loved her family. Dorothy was a member of the Salem Christian Union Church, Excelsior Springs.

As she leaves this Earth, she will be taking a little part of each of us with her, and we hope that she looks down on us with pride and love for her family. She will be forever in our hearts and on our minds. She was a wonderful, loved mother, wife, grandmother and friend.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Salem Christian Union Church. They can be left or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St. – P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085

The family would especially like to thank Three Rivers Hospice, caregivers, nurses and Kelly with Caring Hearts for all their care and compassion to their family during this time.
