John Robert Teague, 80, of Lawson, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 in Liberty, MO surrounded by his family.

John was born June 3, 1939 in Earle, AR to Ross and Edna (Sullivan) Teague.  He married the love of his life, Mary Kay Flaten on April 4, 1966 in Kansas City, MO.

John was proud to have served honorably in the United States Army.  He was a hard worker.  He worked road construction prior to  working for Ford Motor Company.  He worked at Ford Motor Company for 40 years before retiring and starting the career he loved most which was keeping up with his grandkids. John could easily be described in two words, family man.  He devoted his life to helping those around him, especially his family whom he adored.  He showed his love in many ways, but the time he spent with his family was his preferred way.  He was very ornery and could often be found cracking jokes, making quick witted one-liners and telling tall tales.  All the laughter he had was usually in the company of his family during the holidays and his beloved camping trips to Roaring River.  Putting others before himself came naturally to John, being his family’s biggest cheerleader, and even feeding strangers  who were in need.  John was an exemplary example of how to love and treat his wife, getting much joy from driving Mary anywhere she needed to go.  He has been a role model to all those around him—especially on how to be a husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay (Flaten) Teague; three daughters:  Tina Yvette (and Quinn) Murdock of Lawson, MO; Tammy Dianne (and Ely) Withrow of Excelsior Springs, MO; Tiffany Ann Teague (and Steve Jackson) of Lawson, MO  and one son: Troy Robert (and Tonya) Teague of Kansas City, MO.  He is survived by 10 grandchildren: Quinn (and Micaela), Danielle and John Murdock; Jason and Kaitlin Withrow; Amanda and Tabitha Mabery and Joshua Jackson; Allison and Drake Teague and great grandson: Benton Withrow.  He is also survived by two sisters: Lorene Hamlett of Kearney, MO and Ruth Dyer of Holt, MO.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Anthony "Monkey" Virgil Teague, Oscar Teague, Nathan “Jack” Teague and sister Joyce “Jolly” Teague.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 10-11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kearney, MO.  The funeral will be held at 11:00 am immediately following visitation at the church. Arr: Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney, 816-903-8888.
