Leo Ronald Davis Jr., 80, passed away March 20, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Leo was born on June 2, 1939 to Leo Ronald Davis Sr. and Edna Leona Davis in Wheatland, Mo. and was the third son of five sons and three daughters. Leaving his hometown of Gunn City, Mo., Leo enlisted into U.S. Navy, 1957-1961. He was commissioned on the USS Joyce (DE-317, and USS Trathen (DD-530), both destroyer escorts. While stationed Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii, Leo met his wife of 59 years, Minnie Akiu. The couple married on July 16, 1960 at Redondo Beach, California. Shortly thereafter, they settled in Excelsior Springs, Mo., where they raised their family. He retired from Claycomo Ford Motor Co. in 1992.

Leo will be remembered by all who knew him for his kindness and attention he gave to others. He has made a special impact on his family and friends. Leo was an automobile enthusiast and loved working on cars for his family. He enjoyed visiting over breakfast with the regulars at Debbie's Family Restaurant, morning coffee with fellow bus drivers and spending time with his family. At one time, Leo and Minnie were members of the square dance club. He was a soft-spoken simple man.

Leo leaves behind his loving wife Minnie, his children Ronnie (Pam) Davis of Gladstone, Mark (Katy) Davis of Wood Heights, Theresa (Jeff) Rice of Lawson,
and Sherry (Alex) Ortiz of Hawaii. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is survived by brothers Medford Davis of Excelsior Springs, George (Ruth) Davis of Kingsville, Doyle (Janice) Davis of Independence, sister Helen (Jay) Powell of Warsaw and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. March 25, 2020 at Hill Crest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
