Biermann expects ES girls to push tempo

Excelsior Springs varsity girls basketball coach JD Biermann likes the work ethic he has seen from his Tigers leading into this season. That work ethic might have been fueled by the way the 2022-23 season ended. “We set a goal after losing to St. Pius X in districts about changing the way we played; and we saw that change over the summer, when we played 28 games between summer league and our camp in Branson,” said Biermann, who returns nearly all of his players from last season. Baylee O’Dell looks to lead the hardworking Tigers. O’Dell, a senior, received all-district and all-conference honors last season. “I am looking forward to soaking up the time with my teammates and coming away with a winning record this year,” she said. Other seniors who will help O’Dell lead the team include Abby Rash and Bailey Carder. Both will be called upon to handle the basketball from the guard position.
