Boys netters get back into tennis
Aiden O’Dell and Dantin McBee are back playing tennis again.
Following the end of the Excelsior Springs high school boys tennis season, O’Dell and McBee each took a break from the sport, they said. Participating in a high school boys and girls camp June 8-12 helped them transition back into it.
“I wanted to take a month off, just for the mental aspect, to catch up on everything that I missed out on from the tennis season,” McBee said June 12.
Getting back into tennis has gone relatively smoothly, McBee said.
“Just trying to get the reps in and quality over quantity on reps,” he said.
As The Standard reported June 19, there were about 11 high schoolers who attended the camp, as estimated by Excelsior Springs boys and girls coach Richie Marsh, who also oversaw youth camp sessions for elementary and middle schoolers June 8-12. In addition to O’Dell and McBee, that group included doubles partners Ananya Carrel and Olivia Deere, who were featured in the June 19 issue.
