Dolt, Ashworth sweep weight classes at Tiger Classic
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Junior Ayden Dolt took care of business on Jan. 9, when Excelsior Springs hosted its annual Tiger Classic wrestling tournament.
Dolt went 5-0 that day in the 145-pound weight class, pushing his season record to 19-1. He took care of his first opponent, Lee’s Summit West’s Brock Donnelly, with a 16-0 technical fall. He won his second match by pinning Nevada’s Tyler Longobardi in 40 seconds, followed by a 15-0 technical fall over Grandview’s Caleb San Nicola.
Dolt got his fourth win by pinning Bishop Rush of St. Joseph Benton in 1 minute, 10 seconds, then finished with a20-3 technical fall over Davion King of Carthage.
Dolt was one of two Excelsior Springs wrestlers to go undefeated. Senior Damon Ashworth kept his record unblemished this season by sweeping his matches at 160 to move his record to 20-0. He pinned Benton’s Alan McCoy in 52 seconds, then won with a secondperiod pin when he faced Nevada’s Gauge Boyd.
