ES girls split first two games
Excelsior Springs broke even for its first week of varsity girls soccer.
The Tigers hit the road twice to open the season, falling 2-1 March 19 at Faucett to Mid-Buchanan, then cruising past Raytown 6-0 March 21.
The Dragons took the opening lead in the sixth minute. Abby Rash made it 1-1 in the 32nd minute by finishing a pass from Bailey Carder. Mid-Buchanan scored the game-winner in the 56th minute.
Rash led the Tigers past Raytown with a hat trick. Gracie Carder, a first-year high schooler, contributed two goals and older sister Bailey added a goal. Goalies Allison Armstrong and Brooklyn Sharp combined for the shutout.
