New coach leads volleyballers

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers have spent the past few months getting used to having a new head varsity volleyball coach. Kathryn Beile, who succeeds retired coach Terri Irons, comes to Excelsior Springs after a stint as an assistant coach at Class 4 powerhouse Park Hill South. Beile is excited to get the season started with the Tigers. “It is our expectation that all of our players work hard and hold each other accountable,” she said. “Several of the girls have gotten my attention with their leadership, effort and great teamwork throughout the summer, and it has brought some great excitement to the program.” Seniors looking to lead the way are Natalie Frese, Madison Krier, Audrey O’Dell and Belle Jones-Yuille. Krier, who returns as a defensive specialist, had 313 digs last season. The Tigers will count on Frese to continue setting her teammates up after coming off a season where she had 448 assists, along with 132 digs, 34 kills and 23 serving aces.
