Rawie’s expectations ‘pretty high’ for softballers

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Coach Megan Rawie can enjoy a few luxuries as she begins her second season as Excelsior Springs varsity softball coach. One luxury is six returning starters from a team that went 15-7 overall and 6-4 in the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division – good enough for second place. Those starters include pitcher senior Mayce Barber, a four-year starter. “My expectations are pretty high, and we have a great group of girls,” Barber said. Other returning starters are senior Emilie Barrera, who will look to fulfill multiple roles; juniors Avery Moore at third base, and Jordyn Pekarek and Mallory Millsap, both in the outfield; and sophomore Karli Shipman at shortstop.
