Thank-you’s abound at sports gala

THE STANDARD STAFF For Excelsior Springs varsity baseball coach Aaron Holst, June 16 was a day to give thanks. That evening in the high school commons area, Holst, his Tigers and their families staged their end-of-season awards banquet. Before eating, he led the group in prayer. Holst thanked God for “a fantastic group of young men.” Holst also expressed gratitude for the parents of those young men, the memories the team had made during the season and “the success that we enjoyed.” In terms of individual honors, the successes Excelsior Springs enjoyed included the naming of three players to the Class 4 all-state team by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association (MHSBCA). Kaelan Bedford and Hunter Scoma made the first team as a pitcher and catcher, respectively. Klayton Glaspy received honorable mention as a pitcher.
