Tigers jubilant after district baseball title win
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers felt the need to dogpile on one another May 19 next to the pitcher’s mound of their home baseball stadium.
The reason was, they had just won the Class 4 District 15 title.
Excelsior Springs clinched the title by defeating St. Pius X of Kansas City 10-3. The victory followed a 7-3 victory over St. Joseph Benton in eight innings in the district semifinals May 17, also at Excelsior Springs.
“This has quickly become one of the closest baseball teams I have coached,” coach Aaron Holst said. “They spend so much time together and enjoy one another’s company and it shows in how they play the game.”
