Tigers take 11 events at Chillicothe meet

Excelsior Springs had 11 champions to show for its first varsity track and field meet this season. Competing on March 30 at the Chillicothe Early Season Invitational, the Tigers won seven boys events and four girls events. “It was a great night for the Tigers to start the season,” coach Jonah Albertson said. “The times on the track aren’t conducive to their efforts and the 20-plus-mile-per-hour winds they had to run against (weren’t either), and we still set 20 personal records by our veteran runners.” Lillah Shue, a first-year high schooler, paved the way by taking home two firstplace finishes, winning the 3,200-meter run in 14 minutes, 43.25 seconds and the 800 in 2:56.98. First-year high schooler Kinley Rogers won the shot put with her throw of 10 meters. The Tigers also won the girls 400 relay in 56.31.
