EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Parks and Recreation Department is serving up an action-packed summer. At 10 a.m.

RICHMOND – Luke Dale of Excelsior Springs tested his skills against some of Missouri’s elite young golfers Monday and Tuesday. Competing in the Junior Match Play Championship, Dale shot a 185 (+43) for the two qualifying rounds of the tournament, staged by the Missouri Golf Association and hosted by Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.

Funny how looking at a schedule will evoke memories – however hazy those memories might be. About two weeks ago, I visited the Missouri State High School Activities Association website to see if the fall sports schedules had been posted for Excelsior Springs.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Baylee O’Dell is like many Excelsior Springs students in at least one way: She plays more than one sport. O’Dell, who will be a junior this fall, is a two-time varsity letter winner in volleyball and girls basketball.

WARRENSBURG – Another Excelsior Springs High School student-athlete is moving to the next level. Landen Davis has opted to pursue his wrestling and academics at the University of Central Missouri, where he plans to major in construction management.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Summertime, or offseason, football training is underway at Excelsior Springs High School. The Tigers began offseason training on May 31 with summer weights and conditioning work.

JEFFERSON CITY – Two of three Excelsior Springs athletes placed in the top 15 at Class 4 boys state track and field competition. The top eight finishers in each event received medals at the May 27 and 28 competition at Adkins Stadium, held in conjunction with Class 3 and Class 5 competition.

SPRINGFIELD – The Excelsior Springs club bowling team finally made its trip to state. Consisting of Joshua Oldham, Cole Dickey, Olivia Smith, David Falconer, Colt Bowman and Brock Hurla, the team competed in the Missouri BPA high school state tournament May 28 at Andy B’s Bowl and Social.
