EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers went 2-4 as they crammed six varsity baseball games into last week’s calendar. Excelsior Springs opened with an April 4 trip to Smithville, where the Tigers fell 7-3.
KEARNEY – When it came to the team standings, the Tigers were consistent April 8 at the Kearney Invitational, with the boys and girls teams both placing third. “We picked up 40 personal records on the day,” coach Jonah Albertson said.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Avory Moore is taking her softball game to the next level. The Excelsior Springs senior has signed a letter of intent to play at Park University, an NAIA program in Parkville.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs boys netters slogged their way through last week’s cold and wind to split a pair of Missouri River Valley Conference West Division varsity dual tennis matches.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – A nearly perfect week last week put Excelsior Springs above .500 in varsity baseball. The local diamond boys went 4-1 at home, with wins over Harrisonville, Warrensburg, Grove, Oklahoma, and St.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Senior Ethan Edwards led Excelsior Springs on the links last week. Edwards was the varsity boys golf team’s top finisher at both the Winnetonka Tournament, held March 29 at the Hodge Park Golf Course in Kansas City; and in a March 30 triangular, hosted by the Tigers.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The first week of varsity boys tennis left Excelsior Springs looking to reach .500. The local netters went 1-2, falling 7-2 March 29 to visiting Lafayette County of Higginsville and 9-0 March 30 at Warrensburg before sweeping visiting Clinton 9-0 March 31.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers are above .500 again in varsity girls soccer. Tuesday’s 4-1 road win over Warrensburg put Excelsior Springs at 3-2 entering the Excelsior Springs Tournament, slated to begin Saturday.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers opened the varsity baseball season with a few additional home games, thanks in part to their new synthetic turf field. Originally, the Tigers were scheduled for a triangular hosted by Mexico, but they played the March 19 games in Excelsior Springs instead, falling to Mexico and Marshfield.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Amigos FC, an area club soccer program, has more hardware for its trophy shelves. This winter, Amigos took three teams to Winter Magic, an indoor tournament held in January at multiple venues around the metro area.
